Journal Assignment #1

Welcome to a new school year! I am excited to get to know each of you as you embark upon your 7th grade year.  We will be using this blog to create an online community where we will post journal entries and responses to certain things.  We will create accounts and learn how to effectively use the blog next week.

The Details:
You will have a new journal topic to respond to each week that is worth 20 points.  That's a total of 80 points each month.  The topic will be posted on Monday and you have until Friday to post your response.  This can be done at any place where you have Internet access.  (Home, library, at school during free time or guided study).  Journal entries are an out of class assignment, meaning no class time will be given to complete them.

Journal Topic #1 (due Friday August 30th):
I like to plan activities the first few weeks of school that allow for me to get to know each of you.  This week's journal topic is an "All About Me- 5 W's".  Below are a list of questions I'd like you to answer in paragraph form. (please no bullet lists)

1. Who: Who are you? Describe yourself to me.
2. What: What do you like to do outside of school?
3. When: When was a time you felt most proud of yourself?
4. Where:Where do you feel most comfortable?
5. Why: Why are you excited about 7th grade?

I've completed a sample entry about myself below.  Enjoy :)

I'm Miss Sauder; a sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and teacher.  I enjoy reading, blogging, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.  My favorite summer spot is the pool or the beach when I'm on vacation.  This is my fourth year teaching and I've enjoyed every minute of it!  Outside of school I like to travel.  I enjoy quick weekend trips to Kansas City to love on my niece and nephew or longer vacations to places like New York City and Disney World!  Traveling to Boston is on my bucket list.  I will be most proud of myself when I finish my masters!  I've been a student myself for over a year and I'm looking forward to completing it.  I feel most comfortable in my sweats on the couch watching TV or in a room full of my closest friends and family.  I'm excited for this 7th grade year  because I love a fresh start and new faces to meet!  Looking forward to a great year!

We will get you started on your first entry next week.  In the meantime, look around at the links below.  These will be great resources for you throughout the school year!
